I have OCD, though I have managed to gain control over it with years. Last time it bothered me has been quite a while, so it’s a relief.

It’s funny how people make it out to be some kind of paranoia or delirious disease. No hallucinations like ‘must flicker lights 100 times before sleep or family will die’, it’s really just these urges to do something (often trivial) that become intense agony if not obeyed. :y

No, everyone does NOT have a form of OCD. It’s a serious psychological disorder than cannot be easily controlled, if at all.

People somehow think, “I’m a little OCD,” when they don’t understand how crippling the actual disorder is. You may be a little anal retentive, or check things because you worry, but those are not really serious compulsions. Especially not according to the DSM-IV criteria.

The D in OCD stands for Disorder. No, not everyone has legitimate OCD. They have little ticks that can vary in how they’re indulged.

Rather than trying to defend yourself, please educate yourself on the subject. Trust me, it’ll be worth it. It’s like people who throw around the word asbergers without really understanding what it is. These things aren’t as simple as the internet makes them out to be.

Yeah, a lot of people say “oh man i have ocd so that’s why” but really they don’t. Everyone has “OCD,” or like Satsy said, little ticks. OCD just takes those ticks above and beyond.

things have been amazingly busy for me. my huge art project is wrapping up. the only thing left to do is to put the finishing illustrations in my eBook & continue the promoting process for the final art shows & exhibitions.

a few weeks ago, i was granted access to the entire collection at the local historical society for my art project that features images in and around my community in different stages of history. i was kind of nervous doing that, but after i showed them a few clips from my book, they just started handing me things and sounded very excited. they even asked me to do a presentation of my book for their monthly meeting on the 20th of this month

so thats another thing adding onto the national exhibition on the 29th&30th- then i have the follow up sale on Oct 6th.

on top of this, 40 hour weeks at my day job! wah! i’m starting to get nervous.

I just ate some figs, which is strange, because I know they’re disgusting.

This morning I had an interview with a journalist from a prominant gaming website regarding my research on sexism in the gaming community. I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say before the article is published (WUT R JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY?), but I’m really very excited.

Meanwhile I continue to go to class.

Update: Yep, an earlier ticket I received (for not having a front license plate?!?!) and already paid was still marked as unpaid. And naturally, I didn’t save the receipt.

Ffish: What about a credit card statement? If the numbers on the statement match the ones on the ticket, that would be difficult for the city to dispute, no?

Hell, even make a chargeback! If it were me, I’d make a gigantic stink. Kind of angers me just hearing about that sort of thing. Good luck!

I lost my wallet on Tuesday morning, like at 1:30am. It was off campus so I was pretty certain I’d never see it again, I was mopey and depressed for a few days… and then my school called me and told me that someone turned it in at the US postal service (my dorm room key is attatched to my wallet, that’s how they knew to contact the school).

I’m so glad, even though I had canceled my debit card already. Oh well. 5-6 days without access to money at the start of the quarter does bite, though. My roommate this year is wonderful though and loves to cook food for people, she’s been feeding me things.

I’ve got great friends who look out for me, I’m starting to realize… things are looking up. I don’t know what I’d be doing without them.

Classes are already looking pretty intense. Hand Lettering is one of the weirdest classes I’ve ever taken. It’s going to give me carpel tunnel I believe. There’s a lot of small muscle memory and doing tiny little letters. Writing G’s is one of the most intense things. You wouldn’t think so, but try writing a nice legible G that would read well next to another letter of the alphabet. G. G. G. G. G. G. Watch your serifs carefully, ye be warned.
My homework this weekend is to write each letter 50 times. It’s a page that looks like this: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. It’s fun, though!

Environments is a lot of setting up grid work but it’s not too stressful. Survey 2 is more thought provoking, but lecture classes are a wonderful break so my fingers don’t turn into nubs.

Well, today, after being told to go cut myself and die in a hole by my supposed friends, I’ve begun a search for new ones. Wish me luck, I’m gonna need it. People are cruel.

Aw, Domenite, I’m so sorry. People really suck sometimes. I’d love to slap those supposed friends of your silly, see if I can knock some brain cells back into place… People like that give humanity a bad name.

On the bright side, while there are a couple of real scumbags in the universe, there are also a lot of good ones, too. I wish you all the luck in finding them.

I take it you’re in public or high school, so my personal suggestion is to bring a pack of playing cards and start a few poker games for fun (don’t bet anything, that ruins friendships too). You’ll probably meet better people, have something to do at lunch, learn a valuable skill and have fun.

so today was my BIRTHDAY which was p.great, got some cool Sens swag (just in time for the lockout!) and nice shirts and a CATAPULT?? and also that DS guitar hero game, which doesn’t actually work on the 3DS :( but they didn’t know so no biggie.

I’ve been trying to finish a book which I started waaaaay back in 2006 and haven’t even gone near in about a year and a half, so that’s fun. My current work-system is to queue up NHL 07’S dynasty mode and let the virtual sens play in the background while I write. Feels really good to have a method that works for me, except when Real Life™ gets in the way — like the other day when my grandma fell off a park bench and we had to sit up all night with her in the hospital while she got a cat-scan. Nothing wrong with her, just a bump on the noggin, but the place was so busy we didn’t find out for two and a half hours that she’d been cleared to discharge. Way to be on the ball, night-shift nurses!

Dude, don’t worry about it. You were hanging out with the wrong people, you are awesome, If they didn’t like you, they are probably jerks.

Anyways, If you want my advice on making new good friends here it is.

First, you need to find somebody, that seems nice, whether you’ve heard stories about them that are good, or what, try to get next to them, like at lunch or something. Don’t be shy and silent, try to talk to him, or them, and start a conversation, like If they play any sports or what kind of music they listen to? You’ll start an actual conversation, make yourself comfortable around them, make them comfortable around you. Keep it up, soon they will want to be around you, then, don’t be afraid to invite them to your house, you wil have good friends, you just got to look for them

Well I’m going in for surgery in the next 45 minutes! It’s really early for some reason, so I’ll probably be back home before noon :P

Do you spend a long time thinking about your writing, and then let it all out in one session, or do you kind of slowly hash it out with your brain and computer? I mean, there’s probably (definitely) no Right Way To Write, but I find the former a lot nicer than the latter.

Just an update. I mentioned earlier in the thread about how my friend totally stopped talking to me. The avoidance that had been going on wasn’t actually anything new. The calls that went ignored and never returned had been going on for years. After I came forward with my feelings to my friend via his sister, and then my friend blocking me after that was really, just confirmation of what I had already suspected had been going on in the first place.

But I couldn’t help but feel really bad about the situation because we were best friends during childhood! Something like that is not easy to just forget about. Tonight, the curiosity and the hurt feelings got the better of me and I googled them. I actually found the sister on twitter and I couldn’t get over how much she had changed in just a five year period. When I checked out who she was following, I had found that we have absolutely nothing in common! Nothing! I know on the one hand this is borderline creepy, but I guess this is what I needed to see to finally give myself permission to stop feeling bad and move on for good. I can’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling tonight. It’s like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

I finally came down with the plague that’s nabbed everyone else. It’s absolutely awful, but I’m still at work because frankly it makes no difference to me whether I’m sick here or sick at home. I’m working a desk job again so it’s not like I need more rest. Offered to leave since I didn’t want to spread it, but we’re ridiculously busy so the department head would rather take that chance.

On a related note, I hate Apple more and more every day.

I love waking up realizing its Friday, either way, you still get up early, and it’s pretty much like a regular school day, you only have to look forward to the weekend. But that is tomorrow and Saturday. In more of a “It’s Saterday! Aww yeah!!!” kind of guy, then a Friday lover.
