The West Coast usually misses out, because it’s farther away from the magnetic north pole. I was on the road that night, driving through the mountains, trying to stop and see it wherever I could. Apparently I missed it by a few minutes. I saw the twilight glow in the northern sky, but nothing more. I heard most of those photos come about because a digital camera can pick it up, even when the naked eye cannot. But I wasn’t interested in getting a photo just for the sake of it. And I tried last night, but there was just a lot of traffic driving up and down the mountain, people looking for the northern lights, but no northern lights. But I still remember well when my friends and I caught the northern lights twenty years ago, driving around in the mountains. It lasted about 10 minutes, but I think it was life-changing

So the place I’m at has a few cats and one of them gave birth to a bunch of kittens about 2 weeks ago, and I might get to keep one of them!!!!!!

I don’t know what to name it though, none of them have any names yet

I dunno about names but I hope the cat behaves well, we adopted our current cat as a kitten and I think some of the circumstances involving her mother caused her to be badly behaved

There are so many countless times when somebody right-leaning goes on a tirade about how bad socialism is, and then turns around and sings the praises of capitalism – by mentioning a bunch of socialist stuff without somehow realising.

Or there’s always the contrary, too. They’ll claim the worst aspects of society to be socialist, when actually they’re conjured by capitalism. A classic bit is where they show you some run down, abandoned building with debris everywhere and claim it’s from some socialist country – when actually it’s just Michigan.

Yeah, it’s not a very well-known fact, but the communism market in 1910s Russia was actually pretty competitive. Unfortunately, due to a lack of antitrust enforcement at the time, the Bolsheviks were able to fund leveraged buyouts of most of the other smaller communist parties until they were the only supplier, at which point they started charging way more money for their communism. Kinda messed up imo

I believe the problem is more widespread than just the niche of gamers on YouTube. Overall, conflict benefits those who would take advantage of civilization. The reason is that it reverts the cultural aspect back to “us vs them,” where our ancestors originated in tribadism

If I want to use conflict to take advantage of people, I know all I have to do is pick the current controversial issue and speak out against the non-conventional side of the argument. I can make the free thinkers seem like an enemy to the conventional majority, and then it leads to violence

When both sides of the conflict have lost their willpower due to attrition, then everyone in the picture becomes a target for possession. Almost like the empty husk of a spirit accused by the ritual adversarial perspective, except at the last moment all adversaries become the empty husks. Because the adversarial perspective is deeply flawed and hypocritical

Why not take advantage of all those hypocritical fools? Because if I do, I become one of them
