FORUM RULES
Note: The following rules cover the entirety of the forum. Individual boards and threads may have further rules/requests. Please refer to the main page of each board or first post of a thread for them. These rules are subject to change and may be edited at any time and without notice. Failure to follow these rules can result in discipline up to removal from the forum. Even if something is not explicitly stated in the rules the mods have the final say.
1: General Stuff
- Keep your post content PG rated at the most.
- Treat others as you would like to be treated.
- Don’t double post! If you feel the need to say more, use the edit button. EXCEPTION: If it’s been at least 24 hours and nobody else has posted, you are free to post again as long as you have something substantial to add. Please do not abuse this for the sake of keeping a topic near the front.
- Necrobumping is not allowed, do not post in a thread that hasn’t been posted in for over a month! This rule is flexible based on the board, so check specific board rules for more information.
- Don’t quote the person directly above you. If you want to respond to a specific part of their post, quote them and snip the rest out.
- The use of polls is generally frowned upon, only use these in special cases or if you’ve gotten mod approval.
- No trolling/inflammatory posting.
- No backseat moderating.
- No contentless posting.
- Don’t post or discuss content that is inappropriate for minors.
- Don’t make posts with illegal or ethically-questionable content.
- One-liners and snarky jokes/insults are frowned upon. If you’d like to shoot off a quick zinger, think about the topic a bit and try to follow it up with something more productive to the conversation.
- Don’t register multiple accounts.
- Don’t make public threads asking Fangamer-related customer support questions— the mods are volunteers and can’t help with these! Fangamer has official channels where you can take these questions instead.
- Don’t make an “I’m new” post. We’re friendly, jump right in! (You can put “I’m new” at the end of your first post if you like or you can introduce yourself in this topic.) Don’t make “I’m leaving” posts either!
2: No Harassment or Trolling
This bears repeating — do not post for the purpose of antagonizing other forum members. You will be disciplined immediately.
Do not harass other users in any manner; whether publicly or privately.
3: Don’t distribute pirated software
Discussion of emulation is acceptable, but don’t link to or distribute illegally-obtained software.
Please do not ask where you can find repro carts of the Mother 3 translation. These carts are made without the permission of the translation team and as such we do not support them.
4: No advertising
You can link to your personal website or blog in your signature or profile, but don’t do anything more than that. Posting nonsense or empty posts simply to get your signature seen is considered advertising. Anything that is directly selling a service or product (without written permission) is expressly forbidden, even in signatures and profiles.
Accounts created solely for the purpose of advertisement or spam (As determined by the moderation team) may be banned or removed without notice.
5: Zero Tolerance Situations
Starmen.net strives to be a safe space. While we attempt to be considerate when disciplining users there are certain scenarios we do not tolerate. Among these scenarios are:
- Attempting to harass LGBTQ+ people/topics on the basis of being LGBTQ+
- Contacting minors (Anyone under the age of 18) with sexual intent.
- White supremacy, Nazism, or other genocidal rhetoric. This includes dogwhistles for any of these things.
Anyone found to be committing the above will be banned immediately. Depending on the scenario we reserve the right to ban/remove your account even if these actions do not take place on the forums.
