We are once again on the precipice of the world’s greatest survival game, WHAMAGEDDON

It is the morning of December 1st, and this year I have decided to be a grinch and provide no immunity. Good luck, have fun, and familiarize yourselves with the rules.

This game is based on the honor system! If you spend December 8th with the song on loop for some reason, and then roll up on December 25th to declare that you’ve won, then the only person you’ve cheated is yourself!

If you’ve decided to play, then reveal yourself as soon as possible! It’s not fun to declare victory if no one even knew you were playing! I’ll even put you on a list of currently active players that I will probably remember to update sometimes!

Here’s a quick rundown of the rules for anyone who couldn’t be bothered to click through to the WHAMAGEDDON website

Rule 1: The objective is to go as long as possible without hearing WHAM’s Christmas classic; “Last Christmas”.

Rule 2: The game starts on December 1st, and ends at midnight on December 24th. Use your local timezone, if you’d like.

Rule 3: Only the original version applies. Enjoy the ?#!$&%! out of remixes and covers.

Rule 4: You’re out as soon as you recognise the song.

Bonus Rule: Post here when you get eliminated! It’s so much more fun watching your competition drop like flies throughout the month!

PvP: While we can’t stop you from deliberately sending your friends to Whamhalla, the intention is that this is a survival game. Not a Battle Royale. So play nice!

Welp, its kind of a tradition by now so why the heck not? I’m pretty sure that I haven’t heard it all year so I’m still in the game. (It was a little rough with TESCOs playing christmas music in the cafe.)

I got to art school now where I assumed everyone would be anti-christmas music because it’s just marketable capitalistic stuff, but apparently all these art kids love christmas music? I even planned the “I’m jewish and don’t celebrate christmas” card (my half-atheist family agreed to go full-jewish this year, no more “non-religious christmas”), but the health teacher wasn’t even playing christmas music, I think it was just her playlist or something. Other songs included Dance Monkey (ew), Anaconda, and some mid-2019s roadtrip alt-pop song.

So even if you think your manager won’t play it (Jackie smh), prepare headphones and whatnot just in case.

Omfg. Just yesterday I heard the song at church. It was November 30th so I didn’t lose but I was already in the mindset of that. When I heard the song I got so fricking scared.
