I love finding new music. Finding a new and awesome album or artist is one of the simplest joys in my life, so I’m always splitting my music listening (and playing!) time between enjoying my favorites and exploring for new stuff.
There are tons of sites that will give you impersonal recommendations based on algorithm-generated criterion for similarity. I use those too, but nothing matches getting a good suggestion from a friendly human being. It feels nice to share something you really enjoy and have a new person discover it and love it too, so I thought we could use this thread.
Note: this isn’t a thread for just posting links or saying “everybody should listen to X because they are awesome!”. Unsolicited sharing of whatever you’re listening to rightly belongs in the general what you are listening to thread
I’ll kick us off. I found Crying when their second EP, Second Wind, released last year. I’ve been completely hooked since, and they rocketed up to become one of my favorite artists. Unfortunately, the totality of their released music is only barely over a half hour. So, what is something similar? I already listen to Anamanaguchi, but otherwise haven’t found any bands that fuse chiptunes and “normal” rock instruments satisfactorily.
