Why is this dead?? Whut happned???
Just kidding. In all seriousness, I thought I’d ask everyone a question in the spirit of dead forums and communities: what small, unpopular, or dead fandom are you a part of? It doesn’t have to be a “dirty secret”, just anything that people ask “what’s that?” when you mention it. For me, I don’t have anything too unknown, but I like the donghua Heaven Official’s Blessing.
So what’s weird with you guys?

OFF. I had a blast playing it but I doubt anyone talks about it anymore

Hm…I guess it isn’t the smallest fandom in the world, but Bug Fables is a smaller fandom. As for “dead” fandoms, I guess Dead Rising? I’d also say Social Moth, but that’s such a small indie game that I don’t really expect it to have much of a fandom.
They/It/Void | If you don’t take care to preserve your memories, you’ll forget them.
2 Stupid Dogs isn’t exactly obscure, but it is pretty old and you don’t see hardly any meaningful fandom for it or Super Secret Secret Squirrel, but both are very dear to my heart. Sifl and Olly is another good example. Some of it hasn’t aged super great, but overall it’s amazing, and there’s still not anything that does quite what it did. There’s one game that no longer even legally exists for purchase called Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord that similarly goes in my vast hall of amazing, weirdly integral-to-who-I-am media that nobody else seems to have any idea about. I’m sure I’ll think of others later too, but those are the core ones. I did grow up largely on the Mario and Zelda cartoons, but those are hardly a secret.
What is love, if not sharing food with someone, and then running away from that someone,
as they chase after you, shouting “That was my food, give me back my food”?
That Hanna-Barbera reminds me, I love the show Space Ghost: Coast to Coast.

I’m into atonal music and I don’t know anybody else who both knows what atonal music is and likes it.
I know what atonal music is! And I like it. Not to say that I listen to it all the time or I know much atonal music, but I’ve definitely enjoyed it before.

I love Bug Fables too! Such a cute and fun game. I really want a sequel to explore the lore further.
I am part of the rather small fandom for an anime called Summer Time Rendering. The anime didn’t get much notice outside of Japan because Disney+ refused to release it until long after it had finished broadcasting it in Japan. I had been watching it every week elsewhere. A really great anime that went pretty much under the radar, unfortunately.
I’m also a big fan of an extremely obscure manga, I Think Our Son is Gay. It’s written by a gay Japanese manga artist and is about a mom who knows his son is gay, because he’s really obvious. It’s very lighthearted and reminds me of a lot of experiences I had when I was young (like having crushes on male friends and not saying anything about it).
Without love, it cannot be seen.

This, the r/shitpostbound “in” crowd, I guess my creative writing class is our own fandom. I was a SquidBoards regular for a bit but left after I go so close to this place it felt weird to be that much of a regular anywhere else. Though, I did meet Sandtide there, if anyone remembers her.
I live on comedy.
One day I’ll probably die from too much of it.
There are two people that are passionate Libromancer Lorists on Twitter. Me, and my friend Val.

does earthbound the celestial melodies count
it isn’t dead or unpopular but it’s small
I’m a really big fan of it but the only people who’d know about it are the people on this site
I am a Coolio Burgers kind of guy.

I could shoot you a link to the Libromancer’s Bizarre Adventure discord server if you wanted it, though!

What is that, by the way? Sounds interesting.

Ignore the fact a fourth game has been announced for this year
“A flipped coin doesn’t always land heads or tails. Sometimes it may never land at all…”
I’ve actually only ever poked my head into there like twice in my life, but the forum Goo Fans, a site for World Of Goo, is literally as dead as a forum can be, just checked and all it’s completely overrun by Russian spambots.
Say what you want about starmen.net being dead, but at least we mods still take strong care against spam and bots >:( The last post by an actual person I can find was almost a year ago, talking about a discord server they’ve apparently all fled to, but the existence of a starmen discord server hasn’t decreased our forum activity at all…
Everyone who ever has or ever will be anyone will be there,
Never in the history of entertainment will there be an affair, quite like it!
Moral of the story: Starmen.net is superior to all other communities in every way
Love is all that stands between us and the great beyond.
Not so much a fandom. But when looking up videos for migraine relief audio a few years back, I found that there is a whole community of people who get migraines. I often come back to the same videos on my bad days and find new comments from people complaining about this shared issue. There’s an audience for everything, and the internet can be a weird place sometimes.
Now you say that, I realize I’m starting to frequent r/PVCs, r/ADHD, and r/OCD as well. I joined them all to ask to advice on an essay I was writing about all three, but there’s some interesting stuff there… okay besides r/OCD. It’s a nightmare, mostly people just ranting about their incredibly graphic intrusive thoughts and freaking out that the Idaho murderer had OCD. fun stuff.

You have explained what PVC means for you to me before, and I know you’re not talking about Polyvinyl Chloride, but still, the thought of a whole subreddit for talking about PVC pipes is absolutely hilarious, and since my robotics team in high school made out robot frames out of pvc, if such a community existed I’d actually be interested in it

The larp group I work for also used pvc. I own a separate saw just for cutting it.
But yeah haha heart condition wins over piping every time

i’ve somewhat registered accounts on various furry websites, mostly ‘cause i’m a category 3 furry! And even though i’ve made a fursona but that’s because he’s actually one of many different modes that he can transform into, and he’s actually just an anthropomorphic sheep that got gene spliced with shapeshifter dna, and his actual name is Larry “Lambchop” Lesotho.
Whether if it’s Anime, Video Games, Digital Art, or Writing. I’m always a nerd.
in all seriousness, though, there’s like one server for Niche and that’s it, the forums for it are pretty much dead
