Exactly what the title says. The au is currently just an amalgamation of slightly interesting ideas which I have yet to tie together with an overarching plot or storyline. There are definitely things and events I want to have happen within the story.
(This is basically a brainstorming/ranting thread)

About the Au itself…
It has multiple parts.
The first part basically a darker re-write of catcf with the cancelled characters added in (Miranda/Marvin).
The second part is an after story which details the lives of the ticket winners 12 years after the factory incident. Characters from other Rohald Dhal books also get involved in their misadventures. I have a few OC’s dedicated to this AU as well.

The real interesting story/lore building happens only in the second part, where the kids who lost (Agustus, Violet, Verruca, Mike, Miranda, Marvin) band together and investigate their “deaths” as well as to find Charlie who has gone missing.

I have tons of character/backstory lore that I’m itching to talk about so ask me anything!
(Questions like, "What happened to ____ character or What other books are included in this AU or questions like this will probably get the best answer)
If I happen to make art for this AU I will post it here.

I don’t have any funny AUs to share, but I have written my fair share of bad fanfictions, and every game I play I make at least 2 head cannons. If these count for this thread, I’d love to share some of this crap that’s been in my head for the past 3 years.

Yes. Call me a madwoman, a lady-child or whatever. Catcf has been one of my favorite and will continue to be one of my favorite book/movie. The amount of fan content is extremely underwhelming considering the number of people who have seen and enjoyed this book/movie. (And the fan-content that does exist mostly pertains to a particular scene of the movie that’s quite off-putting ie. yucky inflation art) So me, myself and I have decided to make it myself.
In summary, hippity hoppity this non-existent fandom is now my property.

I will “post” this AU but in the form of answers to your questions. Think of this thread as an “ask blog” of such.

Catef has a lot memories for me.

Watching the Gene Wilder version at school.

Going to see the Johnny Depp version before queuing up for the book release of “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.”

I have never even thought about the possibility of fanfiction.

Especially in regards to possible cross over material. I mean, I could 100% see this being in a Mother game.

(Yeah… Think more of the Hell Park AU to South Park, or the numerous Undertale AU’s that are somehow part of a bigger “Undercanon”)

I’ll also take this opportunity to spill the overarching “plot” of my AU.

Unlike most of the iterations of this story here, the kids actually die. (With the exception of Miranda who escaped her death). They were reconstructed and reanimated before they left the factory, and they lost their memories of the factory tour. Everyone has settled into a semi-normal life despite the effects of reconstruction. Until… Agustus decides to contact the rest of the “losers” (ie the bad kids who didn’t inherit the factory, yes I’m calling them that) to find out the truth…

So how does the enormous crocodile fit into this?

He would probably remain unaffected…
12 years after the factory tour, Wonka’s company has grown to massive proportions. Chocolate factories dot the globe even in some places Wonka bars are considered a household necessity. (Like the happy boxes in Mother 3 or the Thneeds in the Lorax) It even has its own dedicated city in Ohio. (The Wonka factories I mean, like a Willy Wonka New Pork City)

If the enormous crocodile does play a role in this story, he would probably be a minor adversary. If Wonka got his hands on him there’s no doubt he would try some kind of experiment with him.

OKAY YASS FANART TIME.

As you may know, this AU does have 2 parts. Soooo.. all of the ticket winners have child and adult redesigns.

Veruca was always and ever will be a spoiled brat. Even if that did lead to her death… Her father died in the incinerator but, she miraculously “survived”. (If anyone could somehow survive being mauled by a horde of bloodthirsty squirrels and being dropped into a burning trash pile was her mystery.) Her mother refused to take her in and she was sent to an all-girls boarding school, where she was constantly pestered by the questioning masses as to where her father was… and why she came out of the factory covered in trash. She was always an isolated and protected child, but now that her enabling father was gone she resorted to violent measures when she couldn’t get what she wanted. However, she did learn one thing at that school… even better than getting things from her father was the feeling of getting what she wanted from others. Whatever it cost her.

12 years after the incident, she now works as a prostitute and an exotic dancer and is paid usually in gifts from her employers. She lives in a run-down apartment, cluttered with the gifts of her previous employers. It’s so disarranged that most people would call her a hoarder. She’s blissfully unaware of her reconstruction, other than the fact that the wild squirrels living around the apartment become unusually riled when she’s nearby.

Yeah I admit my storytelling skills could be better, I’m open to any criticism you might have for any of my stories. Though is AU is darker I wouldn’t call it a creepypasta. It’s intentionally scary/edgy at times but I didn’t make this AU for the sake of creating a scary story.

I still have things to ramble about and by God, I will ramble about them! There have been multiple theories dissecting the losers’ deaths, and you better bet I have my own version for this AU! (TRIGGER WARNING: Yes I am making the deaths gory and graphic, omg your so edgy it’s a kids movie/book yes I know and I dont care)

(I’ll make these posts periodically maybe I’ll compile them onto one big post or Google doc explaining the entire AU cus there’s a lot)

Addressing questions you may or may not have:

Which canon are you following? The book or the movie(s)?- Some of the characters are closer to how they are in the book (Violet, Wonka), some are closer to the 1971 film (Charlie, Augustus), and others are closer to the 2005 film (Mike kinda). Heck, some of the characters don’t even appear in the books and movies at all (Miranda, Marvin). (I didn’t mention Veruca since her character is pretty consistent throughout all the iterations of the story) So it’s a case-by-case thing for each character.

Wait if the kids’ deaths were so morbid why didn’t anyone react or call the police or something?-
Because they were drugged! Haha… kinda… Before they entered the factory they were offered candies by Wonka, hallucinogenic candies that is. And those who did recognize the deaths (Mike, Veruca, and Miranda) couldn’t do anything about it. Mike and Veruca decided to stay on the tour to investigate Wonka but alas, they fell into their temptations and consequently their deaths. (Except Miranda and her father, who escaped the factory.)

Most of my ideas are reiterated in a food theory video. So yeah he was scalded to death by burning melted chocolate. He would have been dead when he got sucked up by the pipe. His body would have been cooked by the hot liquid and his skin and bits of his flesh would have been ripped off by the suction of the pipe. His fate is unusually vague within the book and 2005 film. His line at the end of the 2005 film, “But I taste so good!” (Said in response to his mom telling him not to bite his fingers) confirms that Augustus is partially made out of chocolate (strawberry fudge to be exact, as stated in the book). 12 years later he tries to live a life as normally as possible, which is particularly hard when you’re half-strawberry fudge and half-rotten flesh. Lucky for him, his appearance isn’t affected at all from what we could see in the movie. However he does have to be wary of sunlight and hot surfaces which will melt his skin, he can repair his melted skin with a lighter. He carries an umbrella with him at all times and wears gloves to prevent his body from being touched by sunlight. His body is also quite fragile as well, a few days after the factory tour (he was unaware of his current state at that time) he got hit in the back of the head with a dodgeball and his head fell off. You can imagine the shock this caused at his school. He also has to be careful of being eaten by maggots and other vermin… And of himself, something like picking his nails or scratching himself could easily become self-destructive. Because of this he no longer considers himself to be human. He approaches his predicament with a happy-go-lucky attitude and tends to burrow his troubles and keeps that same old goofy smile on his face.
He currently lives in Ohio and works an office job.

The video in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdnfGR2Q8yg

I also have a song that inspired me: https://open.spotify.com/track/5iiuKcrjqMns675Z0cBoa2

For those of you who don’t have Spotify, the song is called Suburbia Overture by Will Wood.
The song is about a suburban community trying to find a sense of normality after a nuclear incident, (or a war). Which parallels Agustus’s search for normality after the incident. (Honestly, this song could be interpreted as many things this is just what inspired me and this rendition of the character)

Adding to my rant…

Agustus’s character in this AU is similar to how he’s portrayed in the 1971 movie and the original book.
The day before the factory tour the 7 kids stayed together in a hotel. (If I ever write this AU I might use this little section to insert character exposition) Charlie and Augustus initially hit it off well.
Charlie tried to save him, like in the movie but recoiled from him when the hallucinogenics kicked in.

I also wanted to talk about Mike, (cus we all love Mike, no just me… ok i’ll shut up now). I said before that his personality is (kinda) similar to the 2005 Tim Burton version of the film. I also really love how he’s interpreted in the 1971 film. So, I decided to combine the designs and personalities of the two. Gotta love that gamer-wannabe-cowboy emo energy. He’s still as chaotic, violent, and smart-mouthed as ever. He got the ticket the same way as in the 2005 movie. He decided to stay on the tour to find out Wonka’s true intentions, but still got tempted and fell into the same fate as the others.

(TW: Gore)

Since the events of his death fall more into sci-fi territory, rather than something semi-grounded in reality I could investigate and find an actual cause of his “death”.
So I’ll go with this: When he used the teleporter, his molecules were scattered and rearranged incorrectly. Leaving his bloodied parts scattered around the room, he died instantly.
Wonka took a disliking to Mike and when reconstructing him decided to alter his height a little bit. (When I say a little bit I mean by like 5 fricking feet). It’s confirmed in the book that he was 10 feet tall after his “death” so he would probably be 12 feet tall after the time skip. He has scars around where his body was stitched together. (Yeah like the Monster in Frankenstein). He developed body dysmorphia as a result of his botched reconstruction and became more anti-social as a result of that. He also has inhuman strength, which doesn’t really come in handy when you’re a Keter class looking-fellow. At school, he usually retreats to his hideout on top of the principles office.

I’ll add about his life after the time skip later…
P.S. Also If you have any questions feel free to ask!
P.S.S You can even ask the characters stuff!

To the mods reading this… Feel free to put this in the writing section… I probably made this topic in the wrong place,

Continuation from the post above:
12 years after the factory incident, he is unable to find a job because of his height and temperament. He now lives on the streets roaming from city to city. He still has his TV with him, in the form of a shared Netflix account with Violet. He has lost hope in finding the truth and has accepted his fate as a vagabond.

Soo am I gonna have songs for all of these characters?? You better fricking bet. (spoiler alert most of these songs are from the artist Will Wood, for no particular reason)

Hand Me My Shovel, I’m Going In! By Will Wood and the Tapeworms
https://open.spotify.com/track/2tEKHGZKH3L8Gt1gvp7U15

The western-sounding style of this song fits how he appears in the 1971 film and his character then. Also the repeated line, (This is not enough, this is not enough to prove it yet No, I need to hit the bottom) shows his search for the truth behind Wonka. The lyrics of the bridge show his hopelessness about his situation. The song’s climax mirrors the climax of his character arc when he discovers how he died.

I could also probably make a full line-by-line analysis of this song and go into the deep specifics of how it parallels the events in this AU if you so desire…

I should also take this time to say I will be spoiler-tagging all of the “deaths” because they contain heavy gore. If this upsets you then this is not the AU for you…

Ya’ can’t give up the ghost cus it’s strapped in tight!… Soul Taffy! Haven’t ya’ heard?

Now, to explain one of the most terrifying concepts to come out of this AU…

Soul Taffy

Basically what it does is upon consumption it binds a human soul to a body. This doesn’t have to be a human body either, it could be the body of an animal or any inanimate object. (Also the user does not have to consume the taffy to have their soul bound to their body. A deceased soul can be bound to a body, by stretching the taffy to capture the soul and binding it within the body.) Once a soul is bound to a body it can not be unbound, even if the body is fatally injured or tampered with. This means souls bound to bodies via soul taffy cannot “die” (I mean they were already dead soo) or go to the afterlife. The soul could become dormant within the body, and the body could be destroyed, even then the soul would not reach the afterlife.
What about when a soul is bound to a living body? If that happens the original soul or “host soul” still controls the body. The “guest” or "possessor soul only controls the body when the body sleeps or gets knocked out.
This is how the losers were “reanimated”, their souls were simply bound to their recreated dead bodies.

You want to hear about Violet? Ok it’s Violet time.

Before we go into the details of her death and the years after, I’ll have to explain the differences between how she’s portrayed in the book and 2 movies… (Excuse my minirant…)

My girl was NERFED. Like damn…

In the original book (which I’m assuming most of you haven’t read) she was VERY clearly shown to be a tomboy. Which is wonderful! These characters have really big personalities and share the same common trait of being spoiled in some form. Having them be spoiled brats is not really a problem unless their personalities become too similar to each other. They need to have some different character traits to be recognizable. For example, the 1971 movie they wrote changed her personality to be similar to Veruca’s. The other movie has done better with this by making her overcompetitive. But for the sake of this retelling, I will abide heavily by how she’s written in the original book.

Her death in particular is another grounded in science fiction. (For reference I’m not really abiding by the book and movies for this one, I’m not satisfying any nasty inflation fetishes.)

Once she chewed the three-course-dinner gum (and got to the blueberry pie part) her lungs, throat, and stomach filled with blueberry juice which caused her to drown. (Also realistically she would have drowned if her body was filling up with blueberry juice, also also when someone drowns their corpse bloats after a while…)

Surprisingly, she was the one who was least affected by her “death”. Sure she was a little “blue” (lol get it???) but thanks to her overprotective mother who decided to homeschool her after the incident, she was spared from the brunt of it. Even when she was reintroduced back into public school she had already been toughened by her mother. She’d reply to anyone who asked about her physical deformity that it was “just a birthmark” and would retaliate violently towards anyone who made fun of her. Because of this, she gained a reputation for being “tough-skinned”.
12 years after the incident she now lives in New York and works as a receptionist at a fancy hotel. She has a boyfriend (OC in the making!) and considers herself to be a self-made woman. Initially, she doesn’t want to engage in finding Charlie, believing that she’s grown past her “old friends”. This changes however when she discovers that her soul has been bonded to her dead body via soul taffy.

The Song with Five Names, a.k.a. Soapbox Tao, a.k.a. Checkmate Atheists! a.k.a. Neospace Government, a.k.a. You Can Never Know by Will Wood and the Tapeworms :

This song describes Violet’s disbelief and defensiveness towards Agustus’s proposal to search for Charlie and to find out the truth behind themselves. It also describes her questioning herself after she finds out the truth.

Miranda was a scrapped character that was planned to be in the book…
This wiki page mostly explains her character and fate: https://roalddahl.fandom.com/wiki/Miranda_Mary_Piker

I’ll be keeping her ending the same as how it’s described on this wiki page.

Marvin on the other hand… Nothing is really known about him. He’s only described as being conceited and… that’s it. (https://roalddahl.fandom.com/wiki/Marvin_Prune)
So, I decided to take his character into my own hands (I’m still taking what’s described him in “canon” into account.) Also, Marvin and Meranda go to the same school.
He’s a massive flirt. He spends his time attempting to pick up girls in school and when he’s not doing that he’s attending to his looks in hopes of attracting said girls. None of these girls really takes him seriously, he’s completely clueless about this. When given criticism he becomes overly emotional and begins to blame himself and others and returns to tending to his looks to comfort himself. To sum up his character; he’s a so-called hotshot who’s completely oblivious to what others think about him. (Also he’s a disco freak and wears sparkly outfits vaguely similar to Michael Jackson’s dress style.)

He “dies” when he decides to use the eraser pudding and it melts his face off. (I don’t really have any better ideas pls help) He suffocates as a result… He is reconstructed with a doll’s face to allow him to breathe. (His new face is similar to Oogie Boogie from the Nightmare Before Christmas. It contorts in a similar way as well.) He wears a mask to cover his “new face” and became a recluse. The only person who interacts with him is Miranda who does so mostly to get him to do his schoolwork. He takes this gesture as a form of “affection” (even though she has no interest in him at all).

A few years after Miranda graduated from college her father died. She was left all alone to manage the school. Marvin offered to help her out since she was the only person he saw as a “friend”. After a few years of that, they married. They did so mostly out of feeling “indebted” to each other rather than actual romantic interest (and because no one else could stand them lmao). They’re not exactly what you’d call a happy couple but on the plus side, Marvin is a big help at the school.
They don’t have any biological children, only one adopted son, Nel (the protagonist of this AU! But honestly now it’s like its own series…). Nel is a strange child he spends most (almost all) of his time sleeping in fact, it seems to be his only hobby. His parents don’t approve of this at all and it has been the source of multiple disputes between them. Nel cannot help it, dozing off just comes naturally to him. He tries to of course, by drinking an unhealthy amount of coffee which seems to have the opposite effect on him and just makes him even more sleepy. When he’s not sleeping he’s either drawing or hanging out with his best friend Shelly.

(ALSO ALSO: Big changes, this AU is going to be called “Dystopia” now or the Dystopia AU. This AU is kinda (more like really fu—-g) big so yeah I have a heck tonn more to say just bear with me. Sorry for spamming general)

After this we get to the good part… Charlie time (:

Well, Charlie and Wonka so you know what I mean….

Note: Before I also mentioned the existence of souls, and heaven and hell. The way heaven and hell work is very similar to how it is usually imagined in pop culture. However, there are a few differences. Not everyone who goes to heaven becomes an “angel” usually those who have done works of extraordinary good on earth qualify to become an “angel”. (There are of course angels and demons who have existed before humanity was even created, these are classified under general deities and are way more powerful than the hired angels.) Once that soul has been hired as an angel they are given a class (basically a job). These classes include messengers (those who deliver prophecies to humans), collectors (those who bring good souls to heaven), and cherubs (these guys are like freelancers, they work under higher-up angels and their work is usually based around service in heaven). Souls that don’t become angels just chill in heaven. Hell is not organized in this way. Every human soul that goes to hell becomes a demon. Human souls that became demons don’t hold any powers (other than their natural powers). Fallen Angels on the other hand do have some semblance of their former power in hell.

(I also mentioned at the beginning that other characters and concepts from other Ronald Dhal books are mentioned here. While the concepts of heaven and hell are not explicitly mentioned, they are alluded to in The Witches. With witches apparently being a species of demon)

Wonka’s character is a huge and I mean huge work in progress… He’s the villain of this story, all I know about him was that he was an angel who was kicked out of heaven and a demon who was kicked out of hell. He was exiled due to his experiments with the human souls residing in heaven. He was exiled from hell for the same reasons. (For reference the god in this universe has authority over heaven and hell and nonconsensual experimentation, especially with the nature of Wonka’s experiments and the fact that they were done on dead souls who were supposed to be at rest is a violation of the laws of reality.) This left him to continue his experiments on Earth. (god does not have complete authority over the earth since he is a deity, the hiree angels do his work for him there.) He gained a considerable cult following on earth and built his factory as a front. He is most similar to how he’s portrayed in the book and the first movie but more sinister. He’s just a little bit quirky
One of these faithful followers is Charlie’s grandfather, grandpa George. When the factory shut down due to excessive questioning by the media a curse was placed on all the factory workers to keep them silent. This is why Charlie’s grandparents were bedridden for so long. Charlie’s parents don’t question the doings of Grandpa George, they live in fear of him and see him as a fanatic. When Charlie gains an interest in Wonka’s factory his parents are helpless to sway him from Grandpa George’s influence.

Charlie has a different character entirely. In the books and movies, he’s portrayed as being a quiet introvert. Here he’s extremely extroverted.
He’s the kind of guy to try and make friends with anyone and everyone. He’s a little bottle of sunshine and rainbows who believes there’s still good in the world. Poor guy…
He was possessed by Wonka via Soul Taffy so that he would take the blame for all of Wonka’s evil shenanigans. Now he has unwillingly taken place as head of the Wonka corporation. With a human body, Wonka can now summon more friends to help him with his dirty deeds…

And we’ll get to them in the next post…

I’m assuming that most of you guys haven’t delved into Dhalian literature as much as I have, so I’ll link a wiki page explaining the plot of each of the books involved. https://roalddahl.fandom.com/wiki/George%27s_Marvellous_Medicine

Spoiler Warning: George’s grandma “dies” (in the book she actually shrinks to a size smaller than what the human eye can perceive, so we can assume after a while she probably died shortly after)

Two years after the incident, George becomes infatuated with trying to replicate his medicine. Mostly, because no one believes him. To prove the local school kids wrong he attempts to re-create his medicine in the school laboratory. In his frantic daze, he mixes two dangerous chemicals together and ends up killing himself by inhaling the toxic fumes.
He died in 1968. He went to hell and ended up living in his grandma’s apartment. Understandably frustrated and miserable, he took the first chance to escape with Wonka and helped build up his following on earth…
