Status of Fan Game Topics « Beyond EarthBound « Forum

We’ve been horribly inconsistent on whether fan games should be kept on the Game Gab forum or not, so it has been decided that any new topics regarding such will be moved to the Fan Games and Programs forum from now on. We realize that games can fall in the gray area of what is a fan game and when it becomes commercial (for example: games on Kickstarter), but this is just to keep things more uniform.

From now on “Fan Game” will be used to describe any game being developed by a member of Starmen.net. This should hopefully clear up any confusion and we’ll be moving threads accordingly in the future.

Shouldn’t the name be changed then? I mean, Fan Game might confuse some newer members.

There were a few topics posted in here prior to this rule being made (remember at the moment the term “fan game” doesn’t just apply to games based on the Mother series)

I think any game, made by a fan (person who likes the game but isn’t being paid specifically by a company to develop said game) of ANY game, not just EB related, should go into the fan game topics area, including content addition and hacks.

So in reality, it should just be put in PK Hack under the title Fan Game Projects.

But that’s just IMO. I simply applaud the attempt to clean up the joint, lol
