That would be really cool if you guys were able to have a contract with Brownie Brown of Japan to establish BBU. Then the translation would become official and the game would be released for the DS. The strategy guide could be supplied with the game as a special edition package or something.

I consider myself more of a puckish rogue, really.

that would require them becoming a devhouse, then putting out enough quality titles to be noticed by Nintendo, then attempt to be acquired by Nintendo, and then cajoling Nintendo into releasing the games here

…but you’re not throwing away the idea, which means it’s still possible. They don’t have to develop games first to become big. They could just be the translators for BBJ’s games. I mean, The ‘mato is an official translator and all, so he could pitch his work to BBJ to show how good he is. (but didn’t he already do something like that?)

There are already plenty of game companies established in the U.S. who only translate, such as NISA and Atlus U.S.A., so why not a Brownie Brown U.S.A.?

because Brownie Brown is owned by Nintendo and therefore in order to become "Brownie Brown U.S.A.", the company would have to be part of Nintendo

just the same way as Atlus U.S.A. is a subsidiary of Atlus, and NISA is a subsidiary of NIS, Brownie Brown USA would have to be a subsidiary of Brownie Brown’s parent company, Nintendo

you can’t just start up a Brownie Brown USA, you’d get your ass sued off before you finished obtaining capital, even if Brownie Brown were third-party, because i don’t think companies like it when another company starts up in the same field with the same name

Also, they could convince NOJ and NOA to let them bring the games over here if they are willing to take any losses (is that called a limited liability company?). Aren’t “losses” the reason why NOA won’t translate? In this case, losses means not enough returns and “defamation” (such as the Magypsies). These “losses” are false.

One more thing, BBU could bring non-BBJ games over here like Captain Rainbow and Starfies 1-4 once they show how well they do with Earthbound 0 and 2.
