I find it works nicely on Gameboy Advance, though others may think differently.

If you want to play it without any glitches or problems, play it on real GBA hardware, using an EZ-Flash IV MicroSD GBA-size flashcart. Lots of info in the Flash Cart thread. Because emulators are difficult to calibrate and almost impossible to completely remove timing inconsistencies during the rhythmic combat system, it’s highly recommended to play this game on original hardware.

Couldn’t help you choose between PSP and Wii…I assume they both work, and both have their quirks, but I haven’t used either.

I use PSP and it runs awesomely, no problems, no slowdowns, no glitches, and I can do 16 hit combos.
I got my PSP modded JUST to play Mother 3, and im glad I did (and I also get to play old PS1 games on it too)

So I say either PSP or FlashCart, it needs to be portable.

If you can’t get a GBA flash cart, than the PSP is the way to go. That’s my method of playing it, and I like it.

Also, the PSP doesn’t have the SRAM saving problems like the Wii has (had?), so yeah. (ffff just realized how old this topic is)

Yeah I heard that PSP is the way to go. I’m going to be doing that and my Pandora battery should be here by Monday if I’m lucky. The only problem I’ll have is finding the right emulator for the job…
