I do not know if anyone else is having this problem, but ever since Fangamer updated to the new site design, I’ve been having trouble getting into the site. I am able to get into Starmen.net fine, but when I hit any link or go directly to Fangamer.net, the site never loads or the site can’t be found.

We’ve had a lot of people coming to us with this problem. We’re still not entirely sure what’s wrong, but we’re gonna look into it.

In the meantime, you should be able to get there via http://fangamer.myshopify.com — let us know if you have any problems loading that URL!

Mappster: are you using Comcast’s new DNSSEC-enabled nameservers? I think the lookups fail due to some failed DNSSEC authentication. To test, you can change your nameserver to google’s (8.8.8.8) and fangamer.net will resolve fine. I’ve mailed the details to Reid.

Just wanted to update this (and I sent the new information to Reid), the reason for the lookups failing is because the domain root is a CNAME for fangamer.myshopify.com. With most DNS servers this is OK, but some more strictly adhere to an RFC 1912 specification that disallows domain root CNAMEs (as CNAMEs should not be mixed with any other type of record). To solve the problem, the domain root should be made an A record to a webserver that can rewrite the URLs using fangamer.net to www.fangamer.net, and www.fangamer.net can be the CNAME for fangamer.myshopify.com.

fangamer.net is now an A record pointing to 69.65.42.169 (this server). It will always 301 redirect permanent to www.fangamer.net which is the CNAMEd shop.

Nice work! It works perfectly now!
