Hey guys, who’s ready for MAGFest X?

What’s that? You don’t know what that is? Well grab a chair and ol’ METC will tell you a story~

Now, for those of you who don’t know, MAGFest is a video game and video game music festival located in the D.C. Metropolitan region. It was previously held at a Hilton in Alexandria, but it has recently been moved a legitimate convention center in the sparkling new National Harbor just north of Washington D.C in Maryland. MAGFest may be smallish, but with the recent relocation to the Gaylord, who knows what increased madness they have in store?

Personally, I’m excited because I don’t have to shell out a large sum of money to travel since I live in Northern Virginia, and I’ve never been to a MAGFest before, but what about you guys? Does this seem like a fun thing? Will any of you guys be going maybe?

I’ll leave a link here. The con is January 5-8, 2012 and the base-cost pass is for all four days. I’m going to be hanging out with a bunch of my Starmen buddies and I’d love to see any of you who might be showing up, so say hi if you see me!

I’m pretty sure I’m going to attend again. Looking forward to the new venue!

I’ve never gone to a convention for anything before really, but a few things about this appeal to me, namely:

-Proximity (Seeing as I live in Northern VA, I should be able to metro in…)
-Events; Seeing HAWP or ScrewAttack or Ellen McLain would be awesome! Not to mention all the other sweet panels and bands.

One question though – how impairing to my participation is age? (I’m 17)

MAGFest rules. I think it fills a really specific convention/festival niche, where it’s not so small that there’s nothing to do (quite far from that, actually), and not so big that it’s overwhelming. It’s the perfect size to have an intimate atmosphere full of amazing hang-outs, without ever not having something to do.

It’s fantastic, and I can’t wait for this year.

I just learned that the Protomen aren’t playing this year. Serious disappointment. =(

Just one final reminder, and I’ll be out of your guys’ hair forever. This event is coming up January 5-8, 2012, and pre-registration ends december 16 at 11:59pm USA eastern time. Full-weekend and One-day tickets will be available at the door, but will be more expensive than if you pre-registered.
