I had this shirt from the Pac-man Cafe that had a small embroidered Pac-man on the upper-left side of the shirt. It looked perfect and beautiful when it was brand new, but after just one wash, the sides of the Pac-man curled up and it looked really stupid. After a few more washes, it curled up so bad that you couldn’t even seen it unless I ironed it flat. That was annoying and I eventually threw the shirt away. It’s the only experience I’ve had with an embroidered shirt, so I’m wondering if the same thing might happen to this hoodie, or perhaps the Pac-man shirt was just cheap and crappy.

I’m with Poe on this one, even though I haven’t had very many BAD embroidery experiences, I’ve had them get stuck in stuff and come undone and yes, slight curling and I always end up wishing it wasn’t embroidered. Screeenprinted all the way!

On the contrary, I’ve always found embroidered stuff looks much better down the road, whereas screenprinting tends to start showing signs of rubbing away within six months. Back in the day (in the oldschool way) I would’ve been concerned about the price, but now I have one of them “job” thingies so caution has gone to the wind.
Baseball sure is a funny game.
Why so much hate for screen printing it’s a way better way of doing things. But then again I’m a little biased having taken 3 years of graphic arts/screen printing classes, and I used to work in a print shop.

I say Screen Printed.
Embroidery just doesn’t seem right to me for a hoody.

Embroidery to me just reeks of family reunion shirts.

^ You mean at the top of the forum? No can do, since it’s a direct copy of the original design. Meeellla is working on a stylized design that I personally guarantee will knock your socks off (and I’ve only seen the beta designs so far!).

I bought this screen printed hoodie in the Bazaar once in Jerusalem. It was the coca-cola symbol in Hebrew on a black hoodie. After awhile it started to chip away, and the black color started to fade away. It used to be my favorite hoodie that I would wear even in the Fall and Spring, but now I can’t stand it.

I really don’t know the difference, so Screenprinted ftw, I guess.
Ness used PK CALLIN’! It’s super effective!
The only kinds of zippered hoodies that are against my religion are the ones that don't zip up all the way to the top so I can cover my face and look like a total gangster.

Well, I was all about the embroidered hoodie until I heard about this “curling up” that might take place, so now I’m going to have to go with screenprinted. For sure.
Because…shut up, that’s why.
Either way, really. There are pros and cons to both. While I do prefer HUGE designs, embroidery had a feel that you can’t beat.

Well see, I’m pretty sure the quality of the shirt had a lot to do with it. The shirt was thin, and a hoodie will be much thicker, no doubt. Plus, the design was a small, almost perfect circle, which probably made it even easier to succumb to curling up.
I got this other shirt with an embroidered logo on it last month. My mom brought it down from Spokane, WA. It’s not a circle, and it doesn’t have any white “paper” sewn into the back of the shirt like the Pacman design did, and it’s still perfectly fine. Washed it many times and it’s still in good shape.
I dunno, I guess I was waiting for reid to either confirm my experience or reassure me that it was an isolated case when I made that post up there.
