Thanks to mother-jp.net a patent that may be a key in the link between Itoi and Brownie Brown was unearthed. In April of 2003, before Mother 1+2 was even announced, this patent was filed by Sakai Shingo of Hal Labs, Shigesato Itoi of his own company, Inoue somebody and many others of Brownie Brown, and Satoru Iwata of Nintendo of Japan(NCL). The patent itself involves how a character encounters an enemy and then enters a unique battle system like the one found in the cancelled Nintendo 64 Mother 3 where proper timing to the music ensured greater damage in battle. All signs point to Mother3.
